For a while now i've been contemplating on the genius of Pakistani Music. I've always wondered why and how are they able to generate the music of Strings and Jal (and countless other similar bands).
After Rock On - i know we have it too. Some of the compositions are simply amazing.
However, the direction and story are still weak. That's most unlike a Farhan Akhtar movie. They have failed to glorify the career of a musician much to the fact that in the end it's just another great live show !
Farhan should have taken inputs from so many great music videos where the bands are potrayed as gods with instruments. Great Camera Angles and lighting was missing. I was expecting some great camera work. But visually the movie is not impressive at all.
But the music should take care of that. Very refreshing, very lively and Farhan can sing for sure !
Brilliant one time watch.

i second that opinion of yours ... the movie does'nt exactly show how a rock band should be lile .. true they show that in every band they have their own ego issues , but to a certain extent it misses on glamrous issues attached with a band ..
but as u said .. the music covers it all up !!
Sam, I would look at the movie in a different perspective... it's not just about a rock band, but I think the movie is actually about human relationships - relationships between friends, spouses... and how a passion (in this case rock music) or the displacement of it was affecting these people, their lives and their relationships.
I think the storyteller mainly concentrated on depicting the different phases of human relationships and used rock music as a platform to portray it. Yes, I would definitely agree with you on the lack of technicalities if the main theme of movie was the formation, breakup and regrouping of a rock band.
But then again, you are the cool dude living life on your own terms. Ask me how Aditya (the corporate junkie) feels shackled up ;-). I could completely relate to the movie
